The Connections Museum Portal
The Connections Museum is a communications technology history museum in Georgetown, Seattle. It is owned and managed by the Telecommunications History Group. The museum was established in 1986 by former telecom employees. Although there are some other telephone museums in the United States, the Connections Museum is the only one to feature a large collection of working electromechanical central-office equipment—including the famous Panel Office from the early 1920s. The Space Age Cordless Telephone is one of the world's first cordless phones. It debuted at the Space Needle as part of the Seattle World's Fair in 1962. The cordless functionality was implemented through the use of low frequency radio. The set contained a receiver, transmitter, and antenna that communicated with another antenna hidden in the walls of the Space Needle. (Full article...)
