45A Carrier is a 12 channel open wire voice frequency carrier system manufactured by Lenkurt Electric Company starting in 1952. It is comparable to Western Electric’s J carrier but uses a much more compact design. 45A first modulates four channels at a time into pregroups, which are then modulated together into either a low or high group depending on transmission direction.

45A is interconnectable with other Lenkurt 45-class systems at carrier frequencies, and with Western Electric J, K, and L systems using a Lenkurt Basegroup Transfer-Converter.
