A microwave relay station is a site where microwave reception and transmission equipment is installed for the purpose of relaying telephone and television signals across long distances. The most notable usage of this is in AT&T Long Lines. These stations are usually located on the tops of hills to maximize their range which is limited by line-of-sight propagation.
