The museum has a few dial-up modem services available. These are provided by various pieces of equipment attached to the switches.

Internet Access

Dial-up internet access is available at the number 683-1998. It is provided by a Livingston PortMaster 3 connected to the CMS:DMS-10 over a T1 digital trunk. It is configured to support 24 simultaneous connections, with the capacity to support 48 in the future. The CMS:Retro Computers Display has 4 phone lines on the DMS-10 to enable connections. The computers negotiate a PPP session with the PortMaster 3. The ThinkCenter (fabric) hosts a variety of services, such as a BBS, IRC server, and HTTP server.

Remote Login

Remote Login can be accessed by dialing 232-0073. This is demonstrated at the 5410 Glass Teletype in the Teletype aisle by using the acoustic coupler. The teletype must be configured to be at SPEED:300 and PARODY: NONE in it's setup menu or it will display garbled text. The service is provided by mgetty running on fabric.
