CMS:No. 2 Telegraph Serviceboard
Appearance
The No. 2 Telegraph Serviceboard[note 1] is a serviceboard originally installed on the 7th floor of 1200 Third Avenue from 1962 to 1988. It replaced the No. 9 Testboard which is also in the museum. The No. 2 was an upgrade over the No. 9 due to its hub connection methodology and much larger capacity.
As of April 2025 the No. 2 is unused. The museum has racks of equipment needed to make the it operational, but wires need to be run between the racks in the middle of the Teletype collection to the No. 2 at the end and attached in various places, which will involve a considerable amount of effort. The rack equipment is a donation from the Sea-Tac Airport.
Notes
- ↑ The original sign (likely printed in the 80s on a dot matrix printer) said this was called a "2B Electronic Hub Teletype Testboard." However, no Bell documentation makes mention of the letter B, and documentation specifies this as a serviceboard, not a testboard. Current museum volunteers are unsure where the letter B on the sign came from.
