The Outside Plant Display contains several tools and examples of wires used in phone lines. It consists of several cases full of tools and materials that were used by outside plant technicians, and a large manhole simulation that was used to train PNB technicians on skills used in manholes.
Cables
The display contains several examples of high-pair-count cables used to link telephone central offices and long distance switching points together. Cables include paper-insulated 1200 pair, to coaxial, undersea, and fiber optic. In addition, several conduits are displayed that served as carriers for the cables as they snaked their way through cities and towns.
